Wys's BMW E30..Checking In - Revisiting

The past year has been pretty crazy. The pandemic has, of course caused a lot of chaos and in a way put a damper on a year of our lives. Seeing as last summer we were asked to stay home and do our part in helping to relieve hospitals and get the numbers down a bit, I thought it would be wise to cancel all of my planned shoots last summer, which left me a bit anxious to get back to it. Thankfully, things are slowly starting to get back to normal; so, when Wys told me about his new setup, I had to grab my camera and take a look.
The last time we saw Wys’s E30 on the site, it looked completely different than this current setup. Wys decided to change up the old red wrap in order to, in a way, go back to basics with a fresh white wrap, matching the original colour the 318is came equipped with. Although, one might argue the white isn’t as striking as red, I personally feel the white emphasizes the lines of the boxy shaped E30 better than the red ever could. Also, it’s cool that it’s the OG color of the car, bonus points for that!
Now, if you read the past features you’ll be aware that Wys’s E30 was in no need of any major improvements. However, like many classic car owners, there are always a list of things to tinker on with our cars. One of the list items to tinker on came in the way of a fresh set of BC Racing coilovers to help improve the comfort level of the E30. Wys insists the car has always performed well under spirited driving but this improvement should now provide a bit more of a comfortable ride without any possible worry of rubbing.
Lastly, Wys decided to change up the wheels to a minty fresh set of ARE 398’s, completely refinished and are spec’d at 16x9.5 squared. The basketweave design is without question an iconic look that suits almost any car, but especially feels at home on a German classic like this E30. As you’re probably aware, if you’re a regular to Oaties, Wys has been slowly progressing his E30 and this is without question another perfect stage to what is an already very well sought after car.
