Wys's BMW E30..The Progression
Photography & Words By Wynn
I've had the benefit of being able to closely see this car grow over the years. I can still remember when I first saw this car and was instantly impressed on how clean it was compared to other E30's I had (at that same time) seen on the market.
The car has changed drastically since then. Of course one of the biggest changes is the colour swap. Wys (after a short period of debating) finally decided to wrap his car.
But of course choosing a colour is never an easy process. Wys had a few options in mind, one being a Black Rose which is a dark purple colour. After many hours of searching, it turned out that Black Rose wasn't an easy wrap colour to find. So Wys went with his second option, Blood Red.
As with any colour change, it completely transformed the car. His once (still great looking) Ratchet Rocket has bloomed into a show stopping neck breaker. Apart from the gorgeous colour swap, Wys went ahead and repainted all the black trimming as well as the front valence to match. Other small touches are the side skirts that (till this day) are unknown from what they're actually from.
The rear small spoiler has also been deleted and Wys has gone ahead and added a set of Wagen CS1's sizing 9" all around. The car has also been lowered quite a lot more, as in tucking rim in the rear low now. This E30 definitely sits an inch off the ground now. Wys wants to lower the front more but due to a low hanging oil pan, that goal has become a bit more tricky.
As I'm sure you can clearly see from these pics, this car has seen big changes. These changes have transformed the car in a sort of "iconic" way. I definitely know that local people are now more aware of this Red E30 and it's definitely a sight to see when it's cruising down the street. This car has not only inspired me but many others I'm sure.
It's a job well done and it's not even close to being a finished product yet. I know for a fact that Wys has a M54B30 hanging around at the shop..this and his constant discussions of turbocharging makes me excited to see what’s next.
